Yeah. It was discovered after the first Vault was opened. Highly valuable and volatile stuff, but it also apparently amplifies a Siren's powers.

[ She sort of makes a face. Lilith was all about the Eridium, but she's still not totally sold on the matter ]

I think we kind of... absorb it? All Lilith had to do was hold it and she could phasewalk an entire city, so...

Bandits try to eat it, though. They think it gives them slag powers.

Aaaand I'm gonna go ahead and guess that goes about as well as it sounds like it should.

Which is to say, not well at all.

I think it kills them more often than not, yeah.
