[ When Kasumi realized that Maya would have had no reason to see Fleet & Flotilla, she decided that they must simply watch it. At the most immediate opportunity, even. Which is how they've ended up in this situation. Kasumi taking Maya to her apartment on Illium was supposed to be a big deal; it's her most secret hideout that only she knew about (and Keiji, before--hell, it had been his idea to even have a place on Illium, because it's frankly one of the last places Kasumi would choose to have a hideout in). So of course Kasumi had gone all-out, even blind-folding Maya before bringing her in, and when she let the Siren open her eyes, she would find the place was dark save for the spots lit by candles, roses on the table, the whole shebang. The original plan was to cook a romantic dinner together, but somehow they got into a discussion about the latest books she's lent Maya, which led to a discussion on romantic films, which led to oh my god you have to see Fleet & Flotilla.
So now they're huddled up on the couch, the place still lit by candles, except instead of a romantic dinner the have pizza (ordered under a fake name and delivered to the lobby, of course) with their wine and they're watching said movie. They're almost to the end, now, at the part where the quarian woman finally removes her mask to kiss her turian lover, and if Maya listens closely enough, she can hear little sniffles coming from the woman beside her. And if she turns her head to look, she can see that tears are streaming down Kasumi's face and she's biting down on her lip like it'll keep her from outright sobbing. ]
[ Until Maya started reading romantic novels, she never saw the appeal of romance. And it wasn't until she was in a relationship with Kasumi that she even had any desire to indulge in romantic movies.
And even if she didn't, she wasn't about to turn down an excuse to spend some time with the thief.
Still, she doesn't quite understand the draw, but Kasumi seems into it, so she keeps her questions to a minimum and just enjoys their closeness. Well, until she hears those little noises and looks over ]
[ She doesn't answer quite yet, because like a truly hopeless romantic-slash-utter dweeb, Kasumi unwittingly ends up reciting a pivotal line in sync with the movie: ]
"I want you to see behind this mask. I want you to see who I truly am."
[ And then she sobs. ]
--Sorry, I. That line gets every damn time. I'm okay.
[ She reaches up to wipe the tears that continue to fall from her eyes. ]
[ Maya might not fully understand the draw of romantic movies, but she likes to think she understands enough about Kasumi to realize why that line carries so much weight with her. She makes a living hiding from people. Her face, her apartment, everything about her, has been a secret out of necessity.
So the Siren wraps her arms around the other woman, pulling her close. One hand comes up to thread through her hair ]
You know, bit by bit, I'm learning who you really are. I've loved every bit of it.
[ To Maya's question, she merely responds with an "mmhm" hummed against the Siren's neck as she stops at a certain weak spot and catches her skin between her lips, just enough to leave a mark. ]
[ Times like this, Kasumi pretty much lives for that gasp, lives for the way Maya holds her, and in response to her words, Kasumi grins, moving up to brush Maya's hair away from her face and whisper into her ear, ]
[ Oh. Kasumi inadvertently exhales into Maya's ear as she feels the hands on her back, but she regains her bearings just in time for her to respond to Maya's request, ]
[ And that's her cue to move down, planting kisses down Maya's neck once more before she stops at the spot where her neck meets her shoulder, giving that a playful bite, too. ]
[ The way Kasumi misses her just then sparks something in her, and there's an edge of hunger in the way she kisses her back. She has no idea how the thief is able to set her ablaze with just a kiss, but she's certainly not complaining ]
[ Kasumi smiles at her, carefully climbing off the couch and taking one of Maya's hands in hers as she begins to lead them over to the bed. It's not far, thankfully, because Kasumi's apartment isn't all that large.
When they get close, she looks over her shoulder over to Maya with an expression that just spells want and need. ]
[ God, that look turns her blood molten, and she can barely stand it. It suddenly doesn't seem all that vital to make it to the bed. Not with this wonderful, gorgeous woman looking at her like she is.
She stops walking, pulling Kasumi around to face her. She doesn't offer up an explanation as her hands find their way to the thief's shoulders, and she shoves the smaller woman back against the nearest wall. She crushes their lips together, desperate and wanting, and not necessarily caring about the little moan that escapes her as she does. ]
[ It's difficult to catch someone like Kasumi by surprise, but this definitely does. When Maya stops walking, Kasumi quirks a brow ever so slightly, but her expression turns into one of surprise when she's grabbed by the shoulders and promptly pushed against the wall. Not a bad kind of surprise, of course, but one of delight, and she closes her eyes and smiles against the kiss that Maya gives her as her hands wrap around the Siren, fingers digging into the small of her back. ]
[ She presses close, using one arm to brace herself against the wall. As she breaks the kiss, she catches Kasumi's lower lip in her teeth for a moment ]
I wonder... [ she sounds breathless, her gaze dark and wanting as it sweeps over Kasumi's face ] Are you trying to drive me crazy?
[ Kasumi can't help but moan when Maya bites her lower lip, feverish from the way Maya's body is pressed against hers, from the way she looks at Kasumi, the way her voice is airy and filled with desire. When the siren pulls away, Kasumi licks her lips, and when she speaks, her voice is low and similarly breathless. ]
Maybe.
[ by that she means yes, of course, and the way her hands skirt the hem of Maya's shirt says as much, her touch light, playful and teasing. ]
[ She says it with a smirk as she leans in to trail her lips along Kasumi's neck, tugging the collar of her shirt aside to run her tongue along the other woman's collar bone. ]
[ Well. Maya would know by now that Kasumi's neck is one of her greatest weak spots, so it shouldn't be a surprise that Kasumi bites down on her lower lip as the siren trails kisses down her neck, a low, pleased sound coming from her throat she does so. And when she hits the collarbone, Kasumi practically melts a little, tilting her head back, her hair dragging against the wall, hands balling the fabric of Maya's shirt into her fists.
You know, for all her teasing and playing, sometimes Kasumi is practically putty in Maya's hands. ]
We might. [ there's a wicked edge to Maya's smirk, her tone so low and breathless it's practically a purr ] If I get you to the point where you can't stand up anymore.
[ It's Kasumi's turn for her smile to take on a wicked edge. ]
I'm just teasing.
[ It's also Kasumi's turn to send her lips crashing against Maya's as she slips her hands further up along Maya's back before she trails them down again, grabbing at the hem as though asking permission to take the damn thing off. ]
"movie night"

Yes, Maya, it's a good thing. It means you're getting really good at being romantic.
[ She turns her head just enough to catch Maya's gaze, and then winks at her. ]

Not that you have to be all romantic at me, though. Just be you.

As evidenced by the way I just cried over this movie.

Are you okay, though?

Yeah. It's just--that scene hits a little close to home for me.
[ she gives her a warm smile. ]
Especially now that you're in the picture.

She certainly doesn't mind that the thief is marking her- she finds the notion of belonging to Kasumi and only Kasumi incredibly appealing. ]
Mm. You know what I like already.

I think I've got a pretty good idea, yeah.

You got it.

Better.
