Shit, you're gonna have to make a list of all the good stuff I've missed.
isaymechro: (that Anarchy thing looks tricky)

[personal profile] isaymechro 2014-10-22 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
Gimme a frame of reference, dude. What year did you leave?
nostalgiabomb: (Default)

[personal profile] nostalgiabomb 2014-10-22 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Um... Pretty sure it was 1988?

[ Actually, he's 100% sure. And on the slim chance he ever forgot, all the school papers he had in his backpack the night he was taken have the date clearly written on them. He kept everything from that night, even the note the principal had written for him to take home discussing the fight Peter had gotten into earlier that day.

Some twenty-odd years later, and Peter still has a weird thing about making anything about that night concrete, even if he's slowly working past it. ]

Didn't really see much that year. We... um. We had other stuff to worry about.
isaymechro: (show me some green arrows)

[personal profile] isaymechro 2014-10-23 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
[ She nods, opting not to touch on the "other stuff". She doesn't want to ruin the mood, and something about the way he says it just screams mood ruiner. ]

Oh man. You missed so much! Like Demolition Man and Jurassic Park and... shit, you got a pen and some paper??
nostalgiabomb: (Default)

[personal profile] nostalgiabomb 2014-10-23 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
Think so-- just a sec.

[ He heads into the common area -- which, given the size of the ship, is merely another entryway away. He goes digging through a storage box, and if Gaige is watching, she'll see him retrieve an old, battered-looking backpack. He pulls out a notebook and pen, rips out a page, and replaces everything he doesn't need to its original place.

When he returns, placing the paper on the tabletop, the page is dog-eared and slightly yellow at the edges, but it's paper, so. ]

This better be a comprehensive list, Short Round.
isaymechro: (mechromancer not mech-romancer)

[personal profile] isaymechro 2014-10-25 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
[ She almost asks if the paper came from the 1980's too, but then she realizes, given what she knows, that it probably did, which brings them back around to mood ruiner.

So instead she says, ]

If you want comprehensive, I might have to do some research, but Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park are definitely goin' on the top of the list.

You ever see Highlander? I think that was early eighties.

[personal profile] nostalgiabomb 2014-10-25 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
[ His grandpa (and sometimes Mom, when she was up for it) used to take him to movies a lot, try to distract him from the too-frequent visits to doctors and to hospitals. In the early days, it worked pretty well, and sometimes it was pretty fun. ]

That's the one with dudes beheading each other with swords, right? "There can be only one"? Pretty sure I've seen it.
isaymechro: (that Anarchy thing looks tricky)

[personal profile] isaymechro 2014-10-25 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
That's the one. I'm keeping you far, far away from the sequels, though.

Hmmm. How do you feel about giant robots punching giant monsters in the face?
nostalgiabomb: (Default)

[personal profile] nostalgiabomb 2014-10-25 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
[ He gives her a Look, and his voice goes flat. ]

Do you seriously have to even ask.
isaymechro: (I am the greatest engineer alive)

[personal profile] isaymechro 2014-10-25 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
[ She just grins at that and starts scribbling furiously ]

Aaaand Pacific Rim goes onto the list. Maya might actually like that one- it's got a badass lady with blue hair in it.

Oh! I almost forgot about the Fifth Element!

[personal profile] nostalgiabomb 2014-10-25 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
Better keep it to the essentials for now. There're only so many hours in the day, y'know.
isaymechro: (that Anarchy thing looks tricky)

[personal profile] isaymechro 2014-10-26 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, you want comprehensive or essential?
nostalgiabomb: (Default)

[personal profile] nostalgiabomb 2014-10-26 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
[ He frowns, but-- well, he's trying to be more responsible and other boring shit, so he sighs. ] Essentials for now. Comprehensive when we've got time to spare.
isaymechro: (It smells like piss and nachos)

[personal profile] isaymechro 2014-10-26 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Do I have like a limit or--?
nostalgiabomb: (Default)

[personal profile] nostalgiabomb 2014-10-26 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
[ He's trying to think of their schedule; aside from today, he's thinking they maybe have a day they can squeeze in for awesome movie times, so-- ]

Probably four. Five tops. And I'll let you know when we can have a seriously epic marathon when we aren't, like, trying to rid the galaxy of evil and shit.
isaymechro: (that Anarchy thing looks tricky)

[personal profile] isaymechro 2014-10-26 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, okay. Terminator 2, Jurassic Park, The Fifth Element, Pacific Rim. That's... [ and she counts off on her fingers ] 1991, 1993, 1997, and 2013. I need somethin' in the middle there to round you off.

I'd say Serenity, but you gotta see Firefly first to get it. Hmmmm....

Okay, pick one: pirates, zombies, or more robots?
nostalgiabomb: (Default)

[personal profile] nostalgiabomb 2014-10-26 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He hums thoughtfully, then, ] Pirates. More robots can always come later.
isaymechro: (live. liiiiiiiiiive!!)

[personal profile] isaymechro 2014-10-27 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Pirates it is, then!

[ She jots Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl onto the paper and hands it over ]

That should get you started.
nostalgiabomb: (Default)

[personal profile] nostalgiabomb 2014-10-27 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
[ He glances at the list-- but he frowns at it. ]

Why's the pirates one sound so familiar?
isaymechro: (mechromancer not mech-romancer)

[personal profile] isaymechro 2014-10-27 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Uuuh. It was a ride at some Disney park I think.
nostalgiabomb: (Default)

[personal profile] nostalgiabomb 2014-10-27 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
[ He blinks, then the memory settles. ] Yeah, I guess that must've been it. Huh. That's kinda-- weird. How'd they make a movie about it?
isaymechro: (eh. accuracy's overrated.)

[personal profile] isaymechro 2014-10-27 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
There's pirates. They're in the Caribbean. That's uh. That's about were the similarities stop.
nostalgiabomb: (Default)

[personal profile] nostalgiabomb 2014-10-28 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
... Alright, fun times.

Anyway, I'll get to work getting the movies together. In the meantime, I hate to be that guy, but I'm pretty sure you're still workin' on a project.
isaymechro: (It smells like piss and nachos)

[personal profile] isaymechro 2014-10-28 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, trust me. It's badass.

[ she makes a face, sticking her tongue out at him ]

Frickin' slave driver, that's what you are.
nostalgiabomb: (Default)

[personal profile] nostalgiabomb 2014-10-29 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
[ Peter secretly, or perhaps not so secretly at this point, is a five-year-old, and so he sticks his tongue out right back. ]

You're on the clock, kid.
