[ She leans her head on his shoulder, nodding slightly ]
You'll hear no arguments from me.
About what you said before.... about staying here. Would you want to? There seems to be plenty of jobs around. We could, I don't know, earn some coin, buy a house? Get a that dog you wanted.
[ She gets to her feet, her back protesting the movement- not painfully, but it certainly didn't like the idea of moving. She glances over her shoulder, trying to get a look at the bloodied bandages on her back ]
[ Okaayyyy, guess whose mind is coming to a screeching halt? ]
Um--
[ because did she just ask what he thinks she asked he's pretty sure she did but okay well maybe he really should actually keep an eye on her because she's still healing and what if she needs a hand?
-- Yeah. Yeah, that's legitimate. ]
If you think you'll need the company, sure.
[ Ignore the way his voice sort of catches nervously, but yeah. Yeah he's totally on board with this. ]
[ She miiiiight be attempting to distract him- the mood has been somewhat solemn since she woke. And there's a part of her that feels the need to remind him of how much she needs him.
She grabs his hand and drags him off to find someone to draw a bath. It doesn't take long to find someone, and not long after that until a bath is ready for her.
She's not really sure why they felt the need to give her a privacy screen to get undressed behind, though. It's not like Peter hasn't seen her naked before, and she's kind of struggling with getting those bandages off herself. ]
[ He takes a breath, and glances at the bandages (they're pretty much soaked red, and he wonders if they should have changed it all during the night?). He nods as he moves closer, workings to loosen and untie the bandages. ]
[ Her dress is still caked with blood- she'll probably need a new one- as is her back in places, but it's easy enough to spot the scar. A long, thin line, pink against her pale skin, running between her shoulder blades ]
Pretty sure I don't have your figure for it, but thanks for the compliment.
[ -- and he does, too, but there's still dried blood on her skin, and it reminds him of the way his hands were slick with it, how it soaked his sleeves as he held her as she fell silent and no, please, you said you wouldn't leave--
He clears his throat again. ]
Go on, get yourself cleaned up. Then we can worry about getting you something pretty.
I-- [ it's hard not to notice the old panic, the old fear, bubbling up in him. She hates it with every fiber of her being. She hates that this happened, and most of all she hates not seeing him smile- really smile.
She just sort of... sags in defeat. ] Yeah. All right.

I would name it something ridiculous, you know.
... I might've yelled at Lilith, though. Think she might be pissed at me.

[ She pats him on the arm ] I'll talk to her. But I should probably get cleaned up first.
no subject
Yeah, of course. Lemme give you a hand.

Did these used to be your coat?
no subject
Yeah. It was the only spare fabric we had on hand.

Hey, 'bout time I returned the favor, right? 'Sides. You would've done the same for me.

Everything alright?

[ she was really hoping to do them herself, since she'd really not rather remind him of how bad off she was ]

This'll just take a second.

[ His stomach sinks at the sight of the scar, and he stops himself just short of touching it.
He swallows and forces himself to move again, peeling away the bandages. ]
Pretty sure this dress is a lost cause.
no subject
[ she kind of wants to ask what the damage is, but she resolutely decides that she doesn't care. ]
I've never been dress shopping before.
no subject
Yeah? Well, that makes two of us. [ -- Lame joke, sure, but he's trying. ]

[ So is she. She's really, really trying, because she just wants him to be okay again. ]
