[ He laughs a little before just-- kissing her. When he pulls away, he brushes his fingertips along her hip. ]

[ she reaches up to play with his hair a little, and the smile on her face is a warm, genuine one that's reserved just for him. ]

I love you. [ it's true they don't say it often, but she feels that in this instance, it needs to be said. ]

[ That smile makes him melt a little, and he presses a kiss to her temple. ]

I know.

[ she laughs, and it's probably the most genuinely happy laugh to come out of her since she lost her memory ]

I believe that's my line.

[ Her laugh makes him smile all the more, but he scrunches up his face after a second, looking put-out. ]

Whoa, okay, not cool. I don't remember that being a thing.

I call counter-dibs, the superior dibs.

[ Ah, the sense of triumph he feels, even if it's as a direct result of Maya's magnanimity. He moves in to kiss her again and pauses briefly to inspect her skin-- ]

[ Peter is so very good at acting, and suddenly he's nonchalant -- if it weren't for how abrupt the change is, it'd almost be pretty convincing. ]

Hey, quick question, but would you characterize yourself as a quick healer? Weird, I know, but like, if you broke a bone, or if you cut your hand, or, I dunno, if you got a bruise or something, you'd bounce back from it pretty quick, right?

[ She gives him a flat look for a moment. Her tone, when she speaks, has shifted towards "scolding teacher". ] Peter, what did you do?

[ If it were any other time, he'd smirk and mention that she'd be really good if they did a teacher-student role-playing session, but instead he looks a little sheepish. ]

I'm pretty sure I just gave you your first hickey?

[ He pauses for a beat, then: ] That is your first hickey, right? Some dude on Pandora didn't already claim the title?

All right first of all: first date, first kiss, first boyfriend, first hickey, first... everything. That's all you.

Second of all... [ there's a pause, and she gives him a stern look. ... Then she just sort of grins and shrugs ] Good thing my combat suit covers my neck.

[ He raises an eyebrow, taking on a decidedly roguish look. ]

So, does that mean I get to mark you in other places?

[ In response, she does that thing she does where she angles her head and looks at him through her eyelashes ]

Only if you're good.

[ How is she getting so good at this? is his first thought, and he can't help a reflexive gulp. ]

Yeah, I can manage that.

[ Well, for one, he makes it pretty obvious when she does something he likes. She's pretty perceptive, anyway. ]

I thought so.

[ As his first act of "being good," he grabs the sheets from-- wherever they were pushed, and pulls it over them, and throws and arm over her waist. ]

We're still gonna have that conversation about whips, one of these days.
