[ For his part, Peter starts whistling the tune from "The Walker" as he examines the shelves. It would seem their illustrious host is an avid collector of artifacts. Peter's pretty sure most of the stuff in here is invaluable, but never being one to remember a lot regarding galactic history, it's pretty much lost on him.
He passes by shelves of artwork and religious totems and weaponry, keeping an eye out for the artifact they were meant to find for their buyer and anything else that might look interesting. What he ends up with are two knives for Drax and Gamora, an etching of some alien flower for Groot, and a small, flat device the size of his palm for Rocket. He has no idea what it is, but he figures Rocket would find it interesting. All of it tucks easily into his coat and lies flush against his chest.
Also, Peter is secretly amused by the idea of treating the vault as a giftshop, but that's neither here nor there. ]
[ She actually stops and smiles to herself when she hears him whistling. It's nice to know he really does appreciate her present.
She's poking around through shelves and crates, and man there are lots of things she would love to take, but since they only have Peter's pockets to get them out of here, most of it stays where it is. ]
Not yet-- oh. That is lovely. [ There is a pistol sitting behind a few other odds and ends, obviously forgotten, but for Maya she may as well have hit the jackpot. She takes it up carefully and dusts it off ] Where were you ten minutes ago?
Maya, you know keeping a weapon like that is a big responsibility. You'll have to clean it and maintain it, and what'll happen when you get tired of it? It'll all fall on me.
[ The temptation to kiss him again is strong, but they're in the middle of a job- in the middle of some dude's treasure vault with a pair of dead guards outside. They really should get out of here. ]
Aside from some random crap for the others? Nothing. You'd think he'd be thoughtful enough to put up a big neon sign that said "Steal this thing!"--
[ But then he glances down, sees a tiny little box marked "Jittania" on the bottom shelf, covered in dust and positively dwarfed by the other boxes around it. He kneels and opens it, revealing something not too dissimilar to an Egyptian scarab. It seems to be made of some sort of deep red metal, and it doesn't glow, exactly, but there's definitely some sort of faint light emitting from it. ]
Whatever this thing is, it better be worth all this trouble. [ He replaces the lid and does his best to blow the dust off the box -- facing away from Maya, of course -- before tucking it into his coat pocket.
He stands, brushing himself off. ] We should head out, unless you wanna pilfer anything else.
[ He says with a waggle of his eyebrows, ] I could always help you strap it to your inner thigh.
[ Buuut he holds his hand out for it. ] You know, I'm pretty sure most guys are worried about having to carry their girlfriends' purses. I get to carry my girlfriend's new gun.
[ He starts walking to the exit, and as he goes, he tucks the gun behind him into his waistband, effectively hiding it underneath his coat. ] I promise not to fall in love with your new weapon.
C'mon. The sooner we get out of here, the sooner we can talk about your secret kinks.
And here I was going to warn you that the kickback on that little pistol is gonna be a bitch and to watch yourself, but if you're going to be like that, I don't think I will.
[ Now that they're out of the vault and back in what would've been the guard's room, the smell of burnt flesh mixed with something sickly and sweet (he assumes it to be the other guard's blood) makes Peter cringe. ]
Watch your step. Don't wanna get the bottom of your dress messed up.
[ The going is slow, predictably, having to remember which steps were trouble and which ones were safe, but luckily they make it through the hallway and back up the stairs without incident.
Evidently the secret statue-triggered door closed behind them at some point, but a quick glance around yields a switch to open it back up. Peter puts in his due diligence, listening to make sure no one's out there, before taking them back into the hallway. Still no trouble. ]

[ He brushes past her and says with a smirk, ] Get yourself something nice. It's on me.

[ She heads in among the crates, going in the opposite direction as him, glancing at labels as she goes. ]

That’s a pretty little gun. [ He glances at Maya and raises a brow. ] Careful. You’re gonna make me jealous with the way you’re staring.

Can I keep it? Pleeeease?

Alright, I admit defeat. I don't see why we shouldn't take it off this guy's hands.

Thanks.

... We should, uh. We should probably get back to work and get out of here.

So, uh. What have you found?

I guess it's not the size of the box, but the worth of the thing in the box.

... You're probably going to have to carry this, though. I don't have any place to put it.
