[ He pauses again, then has the decency to at least pretend to look abashed. ] Sorry, did I say that out loud?

[ In that moment, Maya's thought processes suddenly go alkjdkjghsigd ]

... Yes, you did.

[ His answering shrug is sheepish, as if to say, "Eh, what can you do?" ]

What? No, of course not! Maya, what ever gave you that idea?

Gee, I don't know. [ she actually pouts for a moment- she never has any idea how to react when he does things like that. Sometimes she manages to actually flirt back and others he makes her brain short circuit. ]

... I suppose I should thank you, though. For being patient with me.

[ For once, he doesn't have to ask what she's talking about. Honesty and emotions are tricky territory for him still, but this? Peter is totally at home with this. ]

Hey, no. Nothing to thank me for. When you're ready, I'm ready, and that's all there is to it.

[ But then that wicked look is back on his face, and he leans in close to brush his lips against her neck. ] Can't say I'm not looking forward to it, though.

[ If it seems like she murmurs in approval and tilts her head a little, it's only because she does. ]

I should warn you that we're going to be hard-pressed for privacy while we're here.

[ He smiles against her neck. ] I don't mind. I've dabbled in exhibitionism.

[ Is he serious? Is he joking? Who knows! ]

Peter...

[ she tries her very best to sound stern, but it just doesn't happen. God dammit, he's way too good at this ]

Kidding, kidding.

[ But still he's smiling -- because he's an insufferable bastard, because he knows he's good, because he's had enough time to figure out which spots on her neck are most sensitive -- and he presses a kiss just below her ear before pulling back. His fingers draw lazy circles on her hip. ]

Anyway. I'll defer to your wisdom for what we do tonight. I'm happy playing tourist.

[ She gives him a light shove, shooting him a glare- though it's far from genuine. ]

Let's hit up Moxxi's then, and go from there.

Sounds like a good plan. Lead on, my lady.

[ She takes him by the hand and heads back up the street towards Moxxi's bar, with it's bright lights and loud music. There are slot machines in one corner, a dart board in another with two patrons drunkenly trying to play the game. Moxxi stands behind the bar, and gives Maya a "Hey, sugar" as they walk in. When Maya introduces Peter as her boyfriend, the other woman has enough class to stop leaning on the bar in such a way that really shows off her cleavage.

There's an older gentleman with cybernetic implants- one eye, one arm, and one leg- sitting at the far side of the bar. He tips his hat, and Maya introduces Peter to Sir Hammerlock. ("He's one of the first people I met on Pandora.") The hunter remarks that he had a few things that needed doing around the Wildlife Exploitation Preserve (yes, really) if they were interested. Samples and such to gather for his upcoming almanac on the planet's wildlife.

It pays well, at least, and Maya's always up for shooting some stalkers, so she agrees.

They've got a little time to kill, so Moxxi slides them a couple of drinks ("On the house.") and they sit to chat. ]

Have I ever told you about stalkers before?

[ He leans backwards against the counter, facing the room -- force of habit, honestly. Every time Peter's in a new bar, he likes to be aware of his surroundings; that, and he doesn't want to accidentally let his eyes wander to a certain bartender's goods. He sticks to idly watches two patrons playing darts. ]

Are we talkin' actual stalkers here, like creepy dudes in the night? Or a new brand of stalker?

[ a smirk ]

The latter. They're kind of lizardy-pterodactyl-looking things. But they can cloak themselves, so they're kind of a pain in the ass.

So either way, stalkers are something we're supposed to shoot.

[ A beat. ]

I'm really glad you explained, 'cause for a bit there I actually thought we'd be hunting for the first kind.

I kind of figured you'd need clarification on that one.

... Also I hope you don't mind giant bugs.

To clarify, are we talkin' size of a breadbox giant? Or size of the Milano giant?

Size of a breadbox to about the size of a small car, actually.
