[ The pizza place is busy, word-of-mouth having done its business wonders. The food is good, the drinks are decent, and by the time they're done and Peter's paid their bill, most of Peter's worries that the night would end in disaster are gone.

(There's still always that chance, though; Peter's pulled off worse catastrophes in shorter amounts of time, but perhaps it's better not to dwell on that, hm?)

In any case, Maya's smart, which he knew would be the case, but not in a snobby way like Peter was afraid she would be, or in a way that would make it impossible for him to keep up. She's intelligent and funny and gorgeous, and Peter thinks he might be a little bit in love already. ]

So, movie time. Last chance on Fifty Shades.

[ Maya is finding that she really likes Peter. Really, really likes him. Handsome and charming and funny, and rough around the edges in a way she appreciates.

She gives him a nudge with her elbow ] Hey, I like you. Don't ruin it with Fifty Shades of fucking Grey.

[ He grins, but then schools his expression into something innocently bland. ]

I thought we both agreed we liked bad movies?

There's good-bad and then there's bad-bad. Seriously Peter, don't make me rant.

[ That somehow catches her a little off-guard, and she blinks at him ]

I uh. I'd have to ask what's wrong with you.

Seriously? You've got a nice voice.

That, and you're funny as hell, so I can only imagine angry-rant-mode-Maya is even better.

[ She gives him a long look, cheeks going slightly pink, then she just laughs ]

You really are something else. [ and after a brief moment of thought, she grabs his hand, twining their fingers together as they walk ] No ranting tonight. Let's just go find something cheesy to riff on, okay?

[ Ah, that surprises him a little -- it's weirdly intimate, but maybe that's just because lately his dates have gone from, "Hi, my name's Peter," to rolling around in the sheets, so who's he to judge?

In any case, he affects a resigned sigh. ]

[ He laughs, but then he holds up a hand, relenting. ]

Alright, alright. Still, I wanna hear it. Should I set aside, like, two hours? Three?

[ Instantly: ] Three and a half.

[ He lets out a low whistle. ]

I'll make it four, just in case I have any questions.

At this rate, you won't be going home until sunrise.

I haven't got plans tomorrow.

[ If it looks like she goes a little red suddenly, it was surely a trick of the light ]
