[ So. The housing area has a skylight now, and stairs leading to the surface, and that's nice, right? In the calm after all the chaos, the last call Maya would probably expect to get is from a certain Star-Lord. ]

Um-- hey.

[ He sounds-- sort of tired, and after that amazing preamble, there's a long pause, where he takes a quiet, deep breath. ]

Get in touch when you've got a sec, okay?

[ A few hours later, Peter will get a call from Maya! ]

You wanted to talk?

[nostalgiabomb]

[ -- in a way, he kind of hoped she wouldn't get back to him.

Because this is seriously awkward. And he doesn't-- really like awkward? Especially if it's him being awkward, so-- ]

Yeah. Hey. You, uh--

[ He licks his lips. ]

-- You been doin' alright?

[ Loooong paaaause. This is seriously weird. ]

Are you okay?

[ -- okay, he sounds honestly confused by that. ]

What? Yeah, I'm totally good. Why?

I don't know. You seem a little... out of sorts?

I'm just making sure, you know, considering what happened.

I-- [ Okay, now he's licking his lips, and-- maybe this was a bad idea. He's-- not really used to being so-- brutally honest.

Saying "thanks" is easy enough. But meaning it is something else entirely. ]

Wanted to talk to you about that actually. But if you're busy, I totally understand. It can wait.

[ That seemed a little worrying, and there's an edge of concern in her tone ]

No, no. I'm free. Did you want to meet somewhere or-?

[ He thinks this is probably something he should do in person, yeah. And it's a wonder how so friggin' out of his element he really is. ]

Yeah, um. I can go to you.

I'm in house ten, if you're not too far away. Otherwise we can meet somewhere in the middle.

[ Now would be a good time to make a joke. Like, You pick the movie, I'll grab the popcorn. Or, is now when I get to meet the parents? 'Cause we're moving kind of fast.

As it is, he just says, ] I'll see you at your block.


[ And it's some time later before Peter talks himself back into walking his stupid ass to Block 10, but when he does, there's a hesitant knock at her door. ]

[ The door swings open and there's Maya, looking concerned. It looks like her roommates are out for the moment, at least. ]

Really- are you okay?

[nostalgiabomb]

[ He huffs a laugh -- and it's rare for Peter to look embarrassed, seeing as how he evidently has no shame, but right now? Yeah, there's some color at the tips of his ears.

And he's looking sort of ragged -- the result of a few sleepless nights -- but he masks it valiantly. ]

I'm fine, seriously. Don't worry. I just-- wanted to talk with you. It'll be quick, promise.

about a week after the rebel shenanigans

[ Some time after everyone is nice and vaccinated, Maya may find a ratty, dented tin box filled with ammo beside the entrance of her housing block.

It's clearly meant for her, if only because there's a swirl and a dot of blue paint, reminiscent of her tattoos, in lieu of a nametag.

Curse you, lack of writing. ]

[ The little box comes as a surprise to her, but when she opens it, it suddenly clicks.

Peter, goddammit. She told you to take it easy.

So the Siren has decided to pay a certain Star-Lord a visit. Knock knock, Peter Quill. ]

[ It takes a few moments, but soon the door opens on a haggard-looking Peter Quill. He has a hand at his waist, where a certain Siren may recall was the site of a pretty recent injury. His eyes widen and he pales all the more when he sees who he's greeting.

Shit.

He swallows hard before trying to look totally nonchalant, leaning on the door frame. ]

Uh. Hey. Something up?

[ Busted. ]

[ Oh, super busted. ]

What's with the guilty look, Peter? I just came to pay you a visit.

Guilty look? No, man, that's just my face.

[ he moves away from the door, making room for her to enter. ]

Come on in.

Oh, is that all. [ She steps inside and turns to face him, hands on her hips ]

And how are you feeling?

[nostalgiabomb]

[ He smirks. ]

Aww, Maya. I didn't know you cared.

Well, it's a funny thing, really. Because I found a box of ammo outside my door, but you're the only person who has offered to bring me ammo, and I distinctly remember telling you to wait before heading North.

So I just wanted to make sure you didn't do anything stupid.

[ Shit.

Uh. ]

Weird. But I'm pretty sure I haven't done anything stupid lately. I mean, sure, in general? But, uh. Lately? Not sure.

[ He pulls a face. ]

Wow, rude. That how you greet all your friends?
